Public Programming
Health and Arts Community Collaboratory (HACC) is based at the University of Arizona, a designated Hispanic Serving Institute (HSI) and land-grant institution. The university plays an important role in helping to document, interpret, and promote the well-being of individuals and communities in Southern Arizona and the wider region. Our programming advances binational health and arts research by pursuing a holistic view of what it means to experience migration in the US-Mexico borderlands and be well. We do this by producing pop-up exhibitions and discussions that feature photographs and reflective narratives created and curated by students.

Using documentary photography as a storytelling tool, students explored how care, consciousness, and community shape personal and public health across borders.
Our work connects students and faculty from the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ), Universidad de Sonora (Hermosillo, MX), Pima Joint Technical Education District Innovative Learning Center (Tucson, AZ), and the Instituto Interamericano de Educación Superior para la Salud (Guaymas, MX).
A model of arts in health education, interdisciplinary and interinstitutional collaboration, and workforce development.
